In this report at first we prepared N ‐nosyl‐ α ‐amino acid methyl esters from α ‐amino acids in a simple method, with short reaction times and good yields. Then, N ‐nosyl‐ α ‐amino acid methyl esters were N ‐alkylated using alkyl tosylates under microwave irradiation to produce N ‐alkyl‐ N ‐nosyl‐α‐amino acid methyl esters in convenient times and with good yields. At the end, efficient and convenient deprotection of o ‐nitrobenzenesulfonyl group with use of HSCH 2 CH 2 OH/K 2 CO 3 was done to produced N ‐alkyl‐ α ‐amino acid methyl esters.
