In this study, activated carbon (AC) supported Pd and PdAl bimetallic catalysts were prepared and tested for direct synthesis of hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ). The PdAl/AC catalyst showed higher H 2 O 2 productivity (80 mol H 2 O 2 kg −1 cat h −1 ) than Pd/AC catalyst. The characterization results indicated that the addition of Al not only enhanced the content of Pd II , but also increased the dispersion of Pd. In PdAl/AC catalysts, Pd was finely dispersed on carbon surface and consisted entirely of the adsorbed PdCl 2 . It is expected that the increase in the dispersion of Pd and the content of Pd II in the fresh catalyst is critical for the improvement of H 2 O 2 production.
