The paper gives a comparative analysis between different coordination structures, determined by single crystal XRD, of Zn and Cd NTP complexes used as corrosion inhibitors for steels in aqueous media according to voltammetry data. The paper provides the results for polymeric O‐coordinated complexes and mononuclear N,O‐coordinated complexes of both metals. Structural differences between complexes of the same metal which possess different structures (polymeric and mononuclear) lead to their different anti‐corrosion activity. Polymeric O‐coordinated complexes of both metals exhibit low anti‐corrosion activity. N,O‐coordinated complexes of Zn and Cd are effective corrosion inhibitors, with Cd complex being four times more effective than Zn complexes.
