A novel perylene diimide (PDI‐ C 8 SAc) was used as a modifier for carbon felt electrode (CFE) and prepared modified electrode was applied for dopamine detection. Obtained electrochemical current was almost 15‐fold higher compared to plain CFE. Also a cathodic shift in the peak potential was obtained indicating the electrocatalytic effect of the developed sensor. Under optimized experimental conditions, a linear range was observed between 1–100 μM with a limit of detection value of 0.084 μM ( n =3). The fabricated sensor was successfully utilized for the dopamine determination in dopamine based medicines.
