Highly efficient synthesis of poly‐substituted 1‐nitroindolizine derivatives via DBU‐mediated [3 + 2] annulations of pyridinium salts with β ‐nitrostyrenes using acetic acid as solvent was developed. The new reaction systems and good functional‐group tolerance of the reaction make it an attractive method to access 1‐nitroindolizines. The synthetic protocol is superior to previous synthetic methods for the formation of 1‐nitroindolizine derivatives.
