Oxidative dimerization of S ‐alkyl dithiocarbamates with molecular iodine and oxone were applied as efficient protocols for the synthesis of 3,5‐bis(alkylthio)‐1,2,4‐thiadiazoles. Performing the reactions in green solvents, obtaining excellent yield of products under mild reaction conditions, avoiding the use of transition metals and hypervalent iodines, and using inexpensive, readily available, safe and environmentally benign oxidants are the main advantages of these protocols. In addition, the reported methods in this paper allow chemists to synthesize the title compounds both in organic and aqueous media.
