A simple and convenient one‐pot reaction for the synthesis of arylidene 2‐aminoimidazolone derivatives from structurally diverse benzaldehydes, amines and 2‐(methylthio)‐1 H ‐imidazol‐4(5 H )‐one is described. The reaction offers flexibility of use of electron‐rich and electron‐deficient benzaldehydes and mono and di‐substituted amines for the rapid development of combinatorial library.
