The microwave assisted synthesis of valuable phenanthridinones via the homo‐annulation of o‐halobenzamides is realized via palladium catalysis. The formation of the products involves in the reductive coupling of aromatic C−X (X=Br, I) bond and the decarbonylative coupling of amide. With this method, a broad array of free NH and N ‐substituted phenanthridinones have been rapidly synthesized.
