A facile and selective method has been developed for the preparation of 1,2‐dihydroquinazolines 3 a‐u , quinazolines 5 a‐f and spiro cyclohexane‐1,2‐quinazolines 7 a‐d by the reaction of 2‐aminoacetophenones, benzophenones with β‐ketoesters, 1,3‐diketones and cyclic ketones in the presence of ammonium salts for the first time.
