The cover picture shows a pot‐, atom‐, and step‐economic (PASE) approach towards α‐unsubstituted ( aza )‐2,2'‐bipyridines, as well as their 3,6‐disubstituted‐1,2,4‐triazine precursors. ( Aza )‐2,2'‐bipyridines, such are of special interest due to their biological activities and metal cation chelating properties. Precursors 1,2,4‐triazines were obtained by the heterocyclization of in situ generated iminoesters (from heteroarylnitriles) with readily available iso nitrosoacetophenone hydrazone. The condensation of the corresponding nitriles with iso‐ nitrosoacetophenone hydrazine and followed by aza‐ Diels‐Alder reaction with the appropriate dienophile afforded the corresponding bipyridines.
