[Bmim]BF 4 : A Versatile Ionic Liquid for the Synthesis of Diverse Bioactive Heterocycles

Last decade has seen a tremendous applications of [bmim]BF 4 (1‐butyl‐3‐methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate) as an efficient, cheap, commercially available, less toxic ionic liquid for the various organic transformations. On the other hand heterocycles are the privileged structural subunit of many marketed drug molecules. The present review deals with the recent applications of [bmim]BF 4 as an efficient reaction medium for the synthesis of diverse biologically relevant heterocycles reported so far.
