We designed and synthesized benzimidazole based derivatives 3 and 5 , having dansyl and naphthalene moieties respectively. This structural difference leads to strong change in the photo‐physical properties of derivatives 3 bearing dansyl and 5 having naphthalene moiety. Interestingly, incorporation of dansyl group to benzimidazole moiety endows twisted intramolecular charge transfer (TICT), solid state and tunable color emission in derivative 3 . The results have been explained with the help of fluorescence, X‐ray crystal data, computational, electrochemical and thermal studies.
