We herein present a transition metal free protocol for the dimerization of terminal aryl alkynes to prepare enyne derivatives using potassium tert ‐butoxide in the presence of catalytic amount of 2,2′‐bipyridine. The reaction is compatible with a wide range of substrates resulting in high to moderate yields of the corresponding head‐to‐head dimers with E ‐selectivity.
