Abstract 1‐Methyl imidazolium tetraflouroborate ([HMIm]BF 4 ) has been discovered to be an effective eco‐friendly solvent cum activator for a novel one‐pot sequential coupling and oxidative cyclization of 4‐amino‐3‐methyl‐5‐styrylisoxazoles, 2‐aminobenzoyl chloride and benzyl alcohols to produce new isoxazolyl quinazolin‐4(3 H )‐ones under ambient conditions. The protocol proves to be an efficient and an environmentally benign in terms of high yields, low reaction times, ease of recovery, and reusability of reaction medium.
