An efficient and green method has been developed for the Biginelli reaction for the first time. Sixteen novel pyrrole dihydropyrimidinones were synthesized using ultrasound assisted one‐pot condensation of 1,3‐dicarbonyl compounds, aldehydes and urea/thiourea in lactic acid as green solvent. All of the compounds have been characterized by 1 H NMR, IR and ESI‐MS. Compared with the conventional Biginelli synthesis, the current progress strongly indicates that this sonochemical procedure is simple, safe, eco‐friendly and low‐cost synthetic approach for the synthesis of the pyrrole dihydropyrimidinone derivatives.
