This cover picture shows an artist's representation of a new class of luminescent hexaalkoxy‐substituted anthracene‐based discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) showing unconventional columnar mesophases at room temperature or near room temperature. Whereas, tetraalkoxydimethoxy derivatives showed stable columnar hexagonal plastic mesophases, hexahexyloxy derivatives exhibited a columnar nematic phase as derived by X‐ray scattering results. The central anthracene core is attractive in search of new functional DLC materials because of its unusual photoluminescence, electroluminescence and excellent electrochemical properties. This makes them promising materials as active components of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) as well as photovoltaics.
