Hyperbranched polymer 4 with peripherally appended (trifluoroacetyl) azobenzene reporter groups has been prepared for the first time. The resulting macromolecule is shown to be efficient chromogenic chemosensor for probing aliphatic primary diamines over a given set of amines.
