In this work, we disclose a convenient and eco‐friendly protocol for the synthesis of spiropyran derivatives by one‐pot three‐component reaction of ninhydrin, active methylene compounds and 1,3‐dicarbonyl using Compact fluorescent lamp as a source of light in the absence of any additional catalyst. In view of the various advantages this strategy gives an efficient and straightforward pathway to construct spiropyrans in an eco‐friendly fashion.
