In this work are reported the synthesis of 6‐(1 ′ ‐pyrrolyl)‐ n ‐hexyltrichlorosilane (PyHTCS) and 6‐(1 ′ ‐pyrrolyl)‐ n ‐hexyltrimethoxysilane (PyHTMS) and the XPS characterization of polycrystalline titanium surfaces modified with these two molecules (10 −3 M in toluene). PyHTCS forms densely packed monolayers after 15 min of reaction, whereas PyHTMS chemisorbs poorly, even after 2 h of reaction. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
