Surface concentrations of chromium in CoOCr 2 O 3 and NiOCr 2 O 3 single crystals in dependence on bulk concentration and annealing temperature were determined by means of SIMS and XPS. From the temperature dependence, the heat of segregation Δ H s was calculated. Its value changed with bulk Cr concentration in the CoOCr 2 O 3 system, whereas for the NiOCr 2 O 3 system Δ H s was found to be constant in the whole range of bulk concentrations and temperatures studied.
