Ionization yields of copper and zinc in α‐brass alloys are determined at an oxygen pressure P o 2= 1.5 × 10 −5 Torr. Two interpretations of the results are proposed, according to the bond breaking model and to the statistical environment model. The second one gives better agreement with experimental values.
