Evidence is provided, that the transmission function T p,a of an electrostatic hemispherical analyser with a lens system, operated at fixed transmission energy (FATE mode) relative to that for operation at fixed retarding ratio (FRR mode) varies with kinetic energy E according to E −1.25 (400 eV < E < 1470 eV).
