A broadband cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) lens is fabricated and then integrated with a refractive lens, forming an ultracompact catadioptric pancake lens that can be employed as a virtual reality (VR) viewing optic with reduced chromatic aberrations. The demonstrated VR lens is a strong contender for next‐generation VR displays.
