The photophoretic trap volumetric display (PTVD) renders 3D images in the air by sweeping the airborne particle. In the previous PTVD, the particle moves along the optical axis with a linear stage, making the size of the system bulky. In this paper, we verify the feasibility of using a focus tunable lens for moving the particle along the multiple axes, including the optical axis.
