Ferroelectric liquid crystals (FLCs), bistable when used in obliquely‐deposited SiO 2 cells, are being developed with the goal of obtaining fast‐switching microdisplays that have about 90% illumination duty cycle. The effects of changing various SiO 2 deposition parameters were investigated. A functional bistable FLC dummy cell is demonstrated.
