Lightfield displays are of great interest to enhance the automotive user experience if they can meet specific usability constraints. We introduce Diffractive Lightfield Backlighting as a novel, low‐cost and flexible technology to implement an auto‐grade Lightfield display with attractive properties such as simple 2D/3D switch, intrinsic light control and switchable privacy.
