The capabilities and benefits of holographic optical elements (HOE's) for use in automotive windshield displays are described. These are based on photopolymer materials laminated to or within the windshield. Two types of HOE enabling compact augmented reality head up displaysand in‐plane transparent displays are outlined and their complementary features described.
