To improve the transmittance of the liquid crystal display panel, a transparent ITO electrode is adopted to replace the metallic common electrode and serves as a storage capacitor in the PsVA mode display. The transmittance is improved by 15% compared with the common design. Since the ITO com electrode also blocks electric field from the metallic lines, a high contrast value over 6000 can be achieved though black matrix structure is not adopted. Such pixel design with extra large aperture ratio can be applied to future high resolution display devices.
