We have developed a 17.3‐inch 8K wide color gamut in‐plane switching LCD (IPS‐LCD) with a polarized laser backlight. By applying a zero—zero‐birefringence polymer, the polarized laser backlight emits polarized light with 88% polarization. The IPS‐LCD with the developed polarized laser backlight achieves a wide color gamut with high efficiency.
