Considering color breakup assessment is important to sequential color displays, we review a series of work by classifying into threshold display configurations, metrics for special patterns, and picture‐level metrics. Next, we propose a general picture‐level metric by modeling the color‐breakup‐related visual attention with a new theorem of dominant visual saliency.
