Solid state lighting (SSL) has become the most preferred and efficient general lighting. This paper presents a comprehensive overview of critical components needed for SSL with the primary focus being on the critical components including those related to passive and active electronic components, circuit topologies, tradeoffs, agency and regulatory requirements.
