Attributed to the photoelastic of glass substrate, the light leakage phenomenon of black state occurs to the IPS/FFS liquid crystal display (LCD). In this paper, Jones matrix analysis method is applied to explain the reasons for such undesirable phenomenon and the corresponding optical compensation methods are proposed to minimize it.
