Vertically Aligned Liquid Crystal based displays (VA‐LCDs) have played an integral role in the development of the display industry. The significance of VA‐LCD has been enhanced by its continual technical improvements. In this paper, we discuss the evolution of the technology from VA to PS‐VA and to newer generations such as Self‐Aligned VA (SA‐VA).
