Recent trends show that increasing power consumption is one of the serious challenges for high image quality displays. For an LCD module, the backlight accounts for a large proportion of the power consumption. We present a newly developed edge‐lit backlight system utilizing a structured lightguide that offers an effective solution to this challenge with high manufacture yield.
