We have established a control technique of light distribution pattern of PDLCs by controlling an internal polymer structure by irradiating unidirectional diffused UV light in isotropic phase. The backlight system using structure‐controlled PDLC and collimated backlight enables to control the viewing angle of LCDs with high light utilization efficiency.
