The wavefront aberration compensation method of holographic optical element (HOE) for augmented reality system is proposed. The wavefront aberration is detected as a linear combination of Zernike polynomials using a phase shifting interferometry. The aberration of HOE is compensated using a correction wavefront profile with a spatial light modulator. The simulation and experiment verified that the proposed method can effectively improve the aberration of HOE.
