A 2D/3D switchable display using a trapezoidal light‐extraction (TLE) film, which can be attached to the backside of an LCD panel on the 3D light‐guide plate (LGP), was designed and fabricated. The 3D image quality was maintained by a tightly controlled, uniform gap between the LCD panel and the 3D LGP. By applying two types of TLE films, 18.4‐ and 10.1‐inch prototypes were constructed. Eye‐tracking‐based light‐field 3D and 2D display images without interference artifacts between both modes were demonstrated.
