We propose a novel method for Pl‐less vertical alignment of liquid crystals (LCs) using nonionic amphiphiles that form hydrogen bond with the ITO substrates. Excellent homeotropic alignment of LCs was obtained with a simple mixing process, and its electro‐optical performance was similar to that of the conventional polyimide method.
