Phase separation of PA‐PI (Photo aligned polyimide) was investigated to enhance the image sticking and reliability of TFT‐LCD. To utilize the anchoring property and electric relaxation speed, we introduced the blending type of PA‐PI which composed photo aligned PI for an upper layer and DC released PI for a bottom layer. Phase separation and the distribution of upper layer in a blending PA‐PI was analyzed by using AFM and TOF‐SIMS. Photo aligned PI as an upper layer was distributed from surface to bottom but the probability of existence on top surface might be different as blending conditions and this was strongly affected on the anchoring strength between LC and Pis
