We present Meta 2, a second‐generation immersive optical‐see‐throughAR system. Its design allows the user to see the virtual contents within the surrounding real environment through a freeform visor display. With its integrated sensor modules, Meta 2 can lock virtual objects within the real environment, regardless of user’s head pose and movements. It also provides a natural hand gesture input system, supporting hand‐eye interaction with the virtual content. Meta 2’s optical engine uses an off‐axis freeform visor that offers an unusually large, 90‐degreeFOV, providing a more immersive AR user experience.
