In‐use damage to cover glass on hand‐held devices is simulated by dynamic impact using sharp diamonds. The local compliance of the mobile device can significantly influence the resulting failure mode of the glass. Establishing a fracture mechanics framework for sharp contact damage under dynamic loading conditions can inform on glass and device designs.
