The new photonics applications of liquid crystals are highligthed: LC photonics elements for passive optical network systems, such as LC switches, sensors, lenses, LC light converters, optically and electrically rewritable E‐paper. Special attention will be paid to photoalignment technology for LC photonics and emergent display devices.
