We developed a new optical polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film, COSMOSHINE SRF™ (SRF) as an innovative peripheral material for polarizing plates. SRF exhibits substantially lower moisture permeability and lower water absorption compared with triacetyl cellulose films, which are the conventional protective films for polarizers. The use of SRF as a polarizer protective film is expected to enhance the reliability of liquid crystal displays (LCDs).
