We propose a fabrication method for a zero‐pretilt nematic liquid crystal cell using UV‐curable polymer. The zero pretilt angle can be obtained by UV curing of reactive mesogen monomers mixed with planar alignment material while a vertical electric field is applied to a liquid crystal cell assembled after the rubbing process. We demonstrate that the pretilt angle of a nematic liquid crystal cell can be decreased to 0.082° by employing the proposed method.
