Azodye alignment has been demonstrated to be nearly ideal forhigh contrast, multidomain displays. It has high anchoringenergy, microscopic uniformity, low processing temperature andcost, and allows for simple patterning. Unfortunately, it lackslight stability. We demonstrate uniform, stable azodye alignmentthat provides a very high contrast ratio device.
