We proposed a new A‐film‐enhanced fringe field switching (AFFS) LCD whose required dΔn value is only 50% of the conventional FFS. Fast response time can be achieved by decreasing the cell gap, while keeping transmittance over 90%. The parameters which may degrade the contrast ratio are addressed.
