A liquid crystal device which shows the capacity to perform as an electrical switchable diffraction grating is demonstrated. Periodical modulation in field‐induced refractive index was realized in the in‐plane switching liquid crystal device with vertical alignment, which resulted in distinct voltage‐dependent diffraction patterns.
