Absorptive color filters in LCDs reject more than 70% of their incident light. Here, we designed, fabricated and characterized a high‐efficiency diffractive color‐splitter that is able to redirect light into the Red, Green and Blue color sub‐pixels, and thereby improve light transmission in liquid crystal displays by over 30%.
