Two experimental procedures were used to obtain SiO 2 ‐TiO 2 . In one case, the Si precursor was prehydrolyzed before reacting with Ti to equalize the chemical reactivity of both reagents. In the other case, H 2 O was produced in situ to avoid precipitation of TiO 2 . Two chelating agents were also used separately to control the polymerization process. It was found that the type of chelating agent leads to differences in the particle size.
