One in five college students are actively raising children, but most of them don't have the same opportunities as nonparenting students, according to Autumn R. Green, Ph.D., a research scientist studying higher education access for student parents at the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College. That's because most colleges and universities don't offer housing that allows student parents to live with their children on campus, she explained.
